During a Guasha session:
-
I use a special tool (often made of jade, bone, or horn).
-
I gently scrape the skin with short or long strokes, aiming to enhance microcirculation in the soft tissue and increase blood flow.
-
The technique is believed to address stagnant energy (referred to as chi) in the body, which practitioners associate with inflammation.
-
By breaking up this energy, Guasha aims to reduce inflammation and promote healing.
Gua Sha is typically performed on areas like the back, buttocks, neck, arms, and legs. There’s even a gentler version used for facial treatments
